Meditating with the Second Chakra

In this article, Elena Brower shares some of her knowledge and insight into meditation with the second chakra.  This chakra is related to emotions and becomes blocked if we cannot express them.  The blockage is a pattern that often starts in childhood when we are not able to fully express and get our needs met.  Ms. Brower explains that getting familiar with this chakra has made it easier to be more open with the people she cares about.  Here is her description of the chakra.

“Your second chakra holds your guilt and your shame. This region also holds your right to feel. If someone was consistently volatile (or exceedingly incommunicative), your entire family had to create ways to handle that subconscious emotional tyranny, and everyone was constantly directed away from their own wellness into impending crisis mode. So you were all waiting for the next outburst or problem, and the flow in your house, your belly and your heart was re-routed in that direction. And you’re all still sort of exhausted from it. We needed healthy examples of how to address our own selves with huge love, and how to nourish ourselves with great care, and we have a chance to be that example now, for everyone around us. It’s never too late.”  She goes on to explain that meditation gives her the opportunity to listen to herself in a healing way.  Through meditation she can reconnect with this part of herself that has been shut down.
