Why Holistic?

Medical Model

Ancient Remedies

Growing up in the South, I was steeped in the medical model.  The professional hierarchy when you had a problem was to either go to your priest or go to your family doctor.  There were very few options available back then and the only expert on healing and health was the doctor or priest.  Today, we have many more options available, mostly considered alternative, within the medical model that have science and anecdotal evidence supporting them.    A holistic healing perspective broadens the view to encompass all aspects of the person, the whole person.  This includes lifestyle, nutrition, spirituality, work, friends, family and home.  Basically, it is about taking a close look at Mind, Body and Spirit.  How are these three aspects of your life working and how are they working together.

Holistic Healing: Mind, Body and Spirit

The science and research of the medical model is nothing short of amazing.  Sometimes it is narrowly focused while there is a wealth of wisdom traditions and folk knowledge on healing that many people use.  In addition to going to the doctor, many people I know go to chiropractor, acupuncturist, massage therapists and psychotherapists to help create more harmony and balance in their Mind, Body and Spirit.  There are many Healing Arts professions that can help create a healthy balance in one’s life.  We are all different and finding what makes us tick in the best way is a journey in and of itself.  We want to get the word out about all the amazing Healing Arts professionals in the area and what they’re view and experience of health is about.
